Now I don't want to step on Second Life Herald's scoop on Mr. Fairplay's Texas Hold 'Em but I'm kicking myself for not posting my photos first. Still, our photo here is loads better, hmm, and really more in the spirit of SLH coverage in any event, no? Say, in RL casinos, you can't take photographs, so as not to embarrass the patrons, but we'll bet Mr. Fairplay is not at all embarrassed by this Lady Luck.
OK, I'll be the ant at the picnic and say what's annoying about this particular game-within-game -- it's all the hovertext labeling! I deliberately framed this photo to keep it out, but check out Uri's blog and you'll see what I mean. Loads of neon green text with statistics and numbers and directions that are confusing and visually distracting. I wish somebody would figure out how to put a mouse-hover type text in SL, so that you didn't constantly feel in this world as if the scripter's slip was showing. If I could place my mouse over the table or card deck and get a hovered text only then, it would make it less annoying. This probably isn't physically possible. But it is a significant aesthetic obstacle in SL, particularly because for some reason, the font in the hovertext is only one kind throughout the whole game, even if you can change the colour.
Embarrassed to walk into a cool place like Mr. Fairplay's and lose your shirt like a newbie? Try this handy little free utility to bone up your poker game before venturing out to Slate.
I once got into a game of Texas Hold 'Em in the mountains near Kalispell, MT. You won't believe this. There was a royal flush dealt on the boards. This is statistically nearly impossible, according to Hoyt. "Even the Lord God of Hosts can't beat a royal flush on the boards."
Interesting reads Prokofy!
Thanks and best wishes with your BLOG.

Texas holdem is a great game. I think the Holdem tables in SL are possibly the most impressive scripting I've witnessed in SL. Some of the players are even decent and the SL dealers are really good.
