"Novotar" is the concept that the novel will now be replaced by the avatar himself and his writings, bloggings, graphic novels, etc., I thought this term up last year when I submitted the avatar's novel to NaNoWriMo.
I have made comic strips for years but somehow, SL doesn't always lend itself to being able to do it. Imagine, I had a whole graphic novel, some of it posted to that NaNoWriMo but then I lost it in a computer crash...
The whole screenshot/editing thing is still so clunky. Get a bmp file...shrink it to fit 640 limit on Typepad...turn it into jpg...get a balloon somehow positioned in it in Paint...try to get the pictures to show up without space...keeps erroring...
There's Comic Life for Mac, but that's for Macs...and the other new software Comic something that was featured on 3pointd.com merely seems to create PDF files, when what I want are portable edited screenshots to upload to a blog. Blecth, it's annoying...the "user-created content" thing is still not as easy as they make it sounds. That means that people with technology but not necessarily ideas get to hog up the airwaves and people without technology and ideas are barred. That's the way of the world. It will balance out.
I wonder now that the FIC are getting into the cartoon as well as the machinima business that we'll finally see the Lindens put in something like we had in the Sims, the ability to screenshot, edit, order, and caption screenshots...probably not.
I wish there was a simpler, low-cost or free blog that enabled you to post your own screenshots, not use the pre-fabbed cartoon elements they provide. I see Sony has a game cartoon maker, will keep researching.
