You can always tell the demanding ones just aren't going to work out. At least I can!
And this one was no different.
I marvel at people who can initiate haughty rudeness in every line, and make a crack like "no offense, but I am confused why I need to pay for your advertising =)" -- and then expect that their target is not going to fight back.
First, the faux "no offense" when it *is* meant to be offensive, then the nasty crack like...the cost of a rental doesn't include advertising, of course, in whatever form is takes -- and then the fake grin.
When someone does that, they've crossed like three lines -- they've been rude assholes, they've decided they can tell you how to run your business, they've let you know they are highly displeased, but they aren't *leaving* which is their CHOICE -- AND they've simply decided to try to make your life miserable and browbeat you into changing your policy.
They imagine that they, as savvy web-dwellers, can sniff out a "sleazy landlord" and "put him in his place". That seething, dripping hatred of landlords, as if they are always out to clip you of a buck. (This one admitted she'd been burned by the last one.)
But...What does an imperious little bitch like this actually thinks will happen? I will immediately fall all over myself and say, "Oh, gosh, sorry for making you pay for my advertising! I see how silly that is now! Why, that's an awful idea! You're right! I'll change it *this minute*!"
What does she REALLY think will come out of this transaction -- getting her way? Some sort of bashful and ashamed apology? Some exception for just herself?
Absolutely not. This is how I run my rentals group, and I prefer to run it this way. It is lawful, it is not deception (I tell people four different ways redundantly about it), the system lets you do this, and it is perfectly fine.
Sure, I could make a parcel cost $175 instead of $150, but I chose to do it this way. It's my choice. It's how I want to do it. I have an open group with cheap rentals. This is how I chose to run it, and group fees works for me and most tenants. No one is required to rent from me or pay group fees this way. If it bothers them that much, they can move on, or if they wish to keep their cheap rental, they can leave the group and join it again any time they need to set prims, it's an open group! But I won't constantly then add ban/media powers back to them. So there it is. A rental costing 1.3/prim, which is lower than the lowest norm which is 1.4 -- with even a 10% discount for for weeks. And a situation which I rushed to fix when I found one of the parcels had gotten into the wrong group so the prims weren't working out. And instead, I get a kick in the teeth.
Then -- the icing on the case -- deciding that because this person was disatisfied with my terms, had to fume several times about this, then got mad because I pushed back and gave her a taste of her own medicine, why, she gets to make a crack about me having an opposite-gender avatar. Why is that okay?
Oh, and that she had to go check with "three other tenants". What is she, the group fees police? Every once in awhile, about once every three months, I get one of these people fulminating about the group fees. Yes, others don't do it this way. But this is the way I want to do it. Precisely because it's an open group, and because people move around in it a lot.
From the get-go, you can tell you're dealing with an imperious bitch of the grid. *I'm* to blame, is the implication, because she sees a parcel she wants, but sees no rental box on it. Well, gosh, that means *it's not available*. It has no rental box on it! So it's likely a person up in the sky with a skybox who wants their rental box up in the sky with them, so it's moved. Or it's prim land. But if something doesn't have a rental box on it, why assume the landlord is a lazy slut who hasn't bothered to put a rental box out on their land? THAT is indeed the implication. And it goes from there...

[2013/02/21 12:49] Pam Tigerauge: (Saved Thu Feb 21 14:56:27 2013)hi again, need to speak with you asap... I have some questions. thank you
[She gives me a notecard which I can't pull up now, but it asks about why there is a $4 fee taken out weekly as a group fee part of rent, and asks why there aren't enough prims available on the sim for the rental].
[2013/02/21 12:56] Prokofy Neva: The rent is what is on the rent box, plus $4 a week in group fees, yes, that is part of your rent, it debits automatically. In a group, prim counts are not limited to the limitations of a lot as if it were by itself, you draw from the total amount of land on that sim, so there is a buffer to draw from. If for some reason it doesn't seem available on the entire sim, that means maybe one of the other people has gone over their limit and they will be reduced, but there are 650 prims available in that rental.

[2013/02/21 13:05] Prokofy Neva: Oh, I found the issue, one of the parcels there was in the wrong group, there is now the necessary prims there so you can put out 650

[2013/02/21 14:54] Pam Tigerauge: (Saved Thu Feb 21 16:49:46 2013)no offense, but I am confused why I need to pay for your advertising =)
[2013/02/21 14:54] Pam Tigerauge: (Saved Thu Feb 21 16:51:01 2013)and yes, I understand how group land works, unfortunately the guy I used to rent from has left SL
[2013/02/21 14:56] Prokofy Neva: You need to pay for my advertising because that's how I do it. Lots of people use the system to move from one place to another for variety. so that's how it is. The rents are very low, and the group is open, which is very convenient for everyone and their roomies, and that's how I like it. If you don't like the system, refund is always an option. Or you can set your prims and leave the group to avoid this little fee. But then I can't keep adding powers of ban/media back to you.
[2013/02/22 17:14] Pam Tigerauge: (Saved Thu Feb 21 18:39:04 2013)I guess I'm just confused why it just isn't added to the rent payment instead of having to be concerned with lindens being deducted... I talked to 3 other tenants and none of them were even aware (ppl don't read)... I'm not sure how to take your response though, doesn't seem terribly friendly for a new tenant... I'm not some noob walking into your group with no land experience. but with my 5 years in SL I've just never encountered this sort of thing in a rental group. I do understand it's up to me to stay or leave, and I guess that's something I'll need to decide upon... I am concerned about lindens being deducted without me doing it. thanks for your time
[2013/02/22 17:14] Pam Tigerauge: (Saved Thu Feb 21 19:18:02 2013)already left... good day ma'am
[2013/02/22 17:28] Prokofy Neva: buh-bye sir
[2013/02/22 17:29] Pam Tigerauge: I assure you I am a woman.. but I know in fact you are not a man... your rep preceeds you.... just wish I knew sooner =P bye bye =D
[2013/02/22 17:30] Prokofy Neva: I don't believe you, with that kind of behaviour, and your reputation as a rude and imperious bitch is now well established : )
[2013/02/22 17:30] Pam Tigerauge: as is yours! yay us!
