Come to the Ravenglass Rentals Main Office to pick up the newsletter in notecard form with the proper landmarks, as I can't provide links here.
This 4096 flat meadow roadside is now available in Hector for $1055/1406; it wasn't included in this newsletter. Note that some of the offerings below have been taken as indicated.
Good Evening! Even Russian Christmas and Old New Year's is over now but Valentine's Day isn't here yet so the snow and winter trees won't be removed quite yet!
It's a girl! Henry Hutchence and his wife welcomed a baby girl into our family on Christmas Day. Needless to say, they are very busy now and he hasn't been able to come inworld. IM me for any requests.
Gifts are available at the Main Office. Coming soon: Mieville merchant events for Mardi Gras and the annual Steampunk fair and hunt.
3rd Eye Gallery in Ravenglass in the sky has a new exhibit, the works of Michiel Bechir, this time with pastoral themes. If you aren't a group member, click twice on the LM to go up.
MERCHANTS
1. If you have a special sale or event in your store, gallery or venue, let me know and send me landmarks so that it can be included in this newsletter which goes out once a month or so. Also, remember, we have a merchants' pavilion at the Ross Infohub where you can put a landmark sign for your store and a freebie. You will need an invitation to the group there because it is an infohub, so IM me for details.
FACTS and RULES
2. A reminder about several basic Ravenglass facts and rules:
o Not every community has "Ravenglass Rentals" as the group to join! Look at the land description of the place you are renting to see the group, or the info card in the rental box. We have to have a dozen other groups because land groups begin to lag after about 300 people. There is no need to join the Ravenglass group in addition.
o We do not allow subletting from our rentals. It makes no sense for us to have the business cost of paying tier at US 0.0025 per meter, then for you to make bank using our cheap rentals. It's just not viable for us, but if you look around on the forums and inworld you may be able to find landlords to work with. We also don't rent to clubs, because of griefing issues, avatars taking up spaces so people can't get home, and problems awarding powers. And tip jars and yard sales are not allowed in residential areas; they can be in commercial areas only. Stores and sky platforms in areas allowing commercial activity are at very reasonable rates, so you can temporarily take one of those areas if you want a gatcha sale.
OFFICES AND STORES
o We do encourage stores, offices, galleries, events in designated areas. Look at the commercial listings terminal at the Main Office or search/places with the term "Ravenglass" to see plaza or roadside rentals which generally can be stores. If you want to temporarily use our many event spaces in the Land Preserve, you need the "event role" in that group to put it in the Events List so IM me. There isn't a cost but you and your guests are encouraged to tip.
There are stores available in Ross and Refugio:
Self-join group Pharos Rentals.
- IM Prokofy for the group Pharos Properties to rent a separate floor or space on the ground floor.
3. TIER Linden Lab recently reduced tier by about 5%. Whee! This still doesn't offset the burden of New York State and even Florida sales tax for us, even after we raised prices by $5 and $10 per week last year, but removed $2 group fees. Also, some of you may have noticed how the Linden has devalued -- for most of last year, the cashout rate with only a few days wait was 242; it crept up to 243 and now even 244 most of the time. So while we added some low cost skyboxes we won't be reducing rental rates at this time.
4. ROWLING
You can get some great managers' specials now, however on the old Teen Grid continent known as the Sharp continent. All these sims are in General, and we have land mainly on Rowling and Bull now. The views on to Linden sea and mountains are great, and there are nice highways for driving. The only negative: the Sith Lords have scattered their ugly, glowing obelisks around the sims -- and have started to migrate on to Sansara and other continents now.
We fight the Siths with ARs, publication of their antics, appeals to Lindens directly such as at the recent Concierge meeting. If you have a minute to help, come and AR their clear harassment on Lot No. 1 in Rowling, where the Siths clustered 4 (!) obelisks and giant black box buildings around our lot, forcing out a tenant. This lot is now available for just 0.65/prim now, so come and use your Firefox de-render or go up in the sky!
o Pull down "Help" then "Abuse Report" and click "photo" and title your AR "Targeted Harassment with Obelisks" and check off "Targeted Harassment" as the type of griefing. Note in your AR that the cluster of buildings prevents exit from the parcel.
Also some other lovely new lots on this sim where your back is to the obelisks. All of them have sky platforms and teleporters:
$365/500 RENTED
$1042/1428
$965/1285
You're also welcome to hang out at our workshop.
And while you're on Rowling, visit the art gallery of one of our favourite creative people, our neighbour Earl Dinkin (and former neighbour on other sims) who has recently re-opened his gallery with new works.
